About

I am Sophia De Leon, Graduate Architect, interested in many areas of design and construction including interiors, project management, heritage, urban design, and sustainability.

Some of the things I am currently delving myself into:

> Management side of building from concept to use.
> Reduction of import/export of building materials to reduce carbon footprint and to locally source as much as possible.
> Practical living – living according to the needs and less of wants.
> Specifying (and learning) of more organic, less synthetic/chemically-processed materials that are less harmful.
> Systematic management of resources to reduce waste – materials, equipment, manpower, and of course, money.
> Urban aspect of design: decongestion of vehicles, social and environmental design

I am currently looking into how we as a designer, can address issues (or at least be conscious in designing) and mitigate the impact of construction to the environment and for us to have a better living standard. In addition, I believe that all of these, together with the rapid development of technology, is a challenge for us designers to properly utilize.

For now, I am training myself practising architecture software, and learning various subjects that are applicable in practice, such as management and communication, as I need to work harder in these areas.

I am currently looking for opportunities here in Melbourne.
